It's amazing what 55 additional square feet can do for your kitchen layout! You simply have to compare the before and after blueprint plans for this kitchen extension project to see how much more cabinet space, counter space, and openness our kitchen addition supplied. The original kitchen design came from our North Carolina Colonial House Plan. The kitchen was well planned out, but a little cramped fro most people. We wanted to add a lot more counter space, as well as cabinetry without building a large home addition. The actual footprint of this kitchen extension on the outside is only 11' x 3'. On the inside we remodeled the dining room a bit, by taking two feet from it and adding it to our kitchen design. What we ended up with is roughly 150 square feet of space to work with. We outfitted the back wall with cabinets and the fridge. The horseshoe upfront was outfitted with the basics: Stove, Kitchen Sink, Microwave, Dishwasher, and tons of cabinets. The end result is a much larger, open kitchen. For this project you will have to get a custom estimate because there are many variables that have to be considered by visiting your particular house. But, you should know that this design was created to save costs, while still giving you a much larger kitchen to work with.
